'Fallenleaf'
English Springer Spaniels

English Springer Spaniels conjures doggy Tiggers with boundless energy, long floppy ears, big soulful eyes, loyalty to die for - probably why we decided on one.

Benji, our 7 year old working Springer, died suddenly in 1999 following surgery. We were devastated vowing never to have any more dogs - the upset at losing them too great to bear.

Our house was empty without our friend - no hairs in your food, on your clothes, no friendly doggy welcome, irrespective of being away for 5 minutes or 5 hours!! It just didn't feel right

Shortly after, whilst holidaying in America, watching kids and dogs playing in a stream - we were inconsolable. " That's it", I said, " we're getting another dog".

........and another chapter and new experience began..
After much searching we located a pup and Bracken arrived. Yvonne Billows suggested attending the next Lancashire &Cheshire English Springer Spaniel Club Show. Thanks to Trudy Topliss for advice on grooming and Francis Jackson for her invaluable video.

We married at Fallenleaf Lake, Lake Tahoe, California in 1997.
It's the prettiest, peaceful place on earth. Ice blue crystal clear waters surrounded by fir trees - seemed fitting for a gun dog affix.
So Bracken became Prowseman Air of Mystery at Fallenleaf.

In 2002 and after a 2 year search we saw Robbie at Crufts. A beautiful proud dog bounced into the ring saying 'I'm here now - you all might as well go home' That was our first encounter with Dr Barbara Scorgies Sh Ch Lochar Border Heritage.. Barbara agreed to the mating, but at ten and a half concerned he may not be fertile. We chanced it and on May 28th 2002 Bracken and Robbie became proud parents of 7 healthy puppies.

We'd a wonderful time we had. Jazmyn and Henley are now well established members of the household. Henley's a big solid dog built to do the job Springers were bred for. Jaz is flashy marked - a bit of a baby yet but should mature later. She's a real comedian who thinks life's one long playtime.
This litter is named after Eagles songs. Fallenleaf Witchy Woman and Fallenleaf New Kid in Town are here to stay.

Watching them in long grass or woods, ears flying, running playing and wrestling each other, chasing leaves, sticks or just fresh air, into water - the dirtier the better - is a privilege to be part of.

Both Henley and Bracken are now Crufts qualified for life - Henley achieved his Junior Warrant and Bracken won a Green Star in Ireland in 2003 - What a wonderful year!!

Through our dogs we've met new friends who've given us hints and advice They all have the same 'doggy' interests and we're looking forward to the shows with friends and dogs.

We're both Committee members of Lancashire and Cheshire ESS Club. Geoff's also on Wigan & District Canine Society Committee.

Our dogs are Fucosidosis tested (Clear - Non Carriers)
Our dogs hold current clear eye certificates
