'Sgurr'
English Springer Spaniels

My name is Enid Lake and I live on the Isle of Skye, one of the most beautiful places if you love the mountains and the sea. The photo shows my dog Glen just by the house with the Black Cuillins in the background. I bred my first litter in 2006 and named the puppies after these hills. I am a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder and my kennel name is Sgurr meaning 'the peak' in Gaelic.

I have working line Springers and I am one of only a handful of breeders who health check those lines. My stud dog Glen and my bitches Jodie and Peggy Sue are hip scored, have clear eye certificates including gonioscopy and are DNA tested clear both genes for three serious conditions that affect ESS, namely Fucosidosis, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (cord 1) and Phosphofructokinase Decifiency. Where sire and dam are clear both genes in each case, pups take one clear gene from each parent and are hereditarily clear both genes. If one parent is clear both genes, pups will not be affected by the genetic conditions.

Above all, I am breeding for temperament so my puppies can do well in any situation, either as country pet/companions, especially with young children, or as working dogs.

Please visit my website www.sgurr.org.uk for further information.

Please note: Docking is now banned totally in Scotland so these pups will have full tails.
