Policy and Procedure for the "B" and "C" Judging Lists

1. English Springer Spaniel Club (ESSC) will produce 'B' and 'C' Lists of Judges that it supports to judge English Springer Spaniels at Open Show level.

2. The purpose of the 'B' list of judges is to indicate to interested parties those persons the ESSC would support at Open Show Level. (For this purpose, Open Show level includes an appointment at a Championship Show without CCs)

3. The purpose of the 'C' List is to indicate to interested parties those persons whom the Club would support to judge up to a maximum of 3 classes of the breed at Open Show level.

4. The lists are not indefinite. They are valid for one year only and will expire on the 31st December each year. The ESSC Judges Sub Committee will consider new and updated applications to the 'B' & 'C' lists of Judges. Where an application to the A3 list is supported, it will be submitted to the Joint English Springer Spaniel Judges Consortium (JESS JC) for their Annual Meeting in November/December each year. All Judging Lists will be compiled for commencement on the 1st January the following year.

5. The ESSC's 'B' and 'C' Lists will be compiled using information provided by the applicant.

6. New applicants wishing to be considered for inclusion in the ESSC's 'B' and 'C' Lists of judges must, in the first instance, complete a JESS JC Judging Questionnaire. Any person can apply for inclusion on the lists.

7. A Questionnaire can be obtained from any Breed Club/Society who is a member of the JESS JC. The completed form should be returned to however many Breed Club/Societies whose "B" or 'C' lists the applicant wishes to be considered for. The JQ is a universal one to those Breed Club/Societies in the JESS JC and may be photocopied. However there should be an original signature on each returned Questionnaire.

8. Membership of a Breed Club/Society is not a pre-requisite for inclusion on their list.

9. A person may rsubmit a Judging Questionnaire at any time to update their information.

10. The suitability of applicants for inclusion in the ESSC 'B' and 'C' Lists of judges will be considered by the ESSC Judges Sub Committee at its discretion, using the criteria detailed overleaf as a guide. The decision of the ESSC Judges Sub Committee is final and no reason for non-inclusion will be given. This does not preclude a re-submission of an application in any subsequent year.

11. Judges who are to be included for the first time on Judging Lists will be informed of the ESSC Judges Sub Committee's decision in writing. A copy of the 'B' and 'C' Judging Lists will be made available on request. Copies of the list are also sent to the Kennel Club and to Dog Show Secretaries to help promote a fair distribution of judges at Open Shows and Championship Shows without CCs.

12. In accordance with the KC recommendation, voting of a person for inclusion on Judging Lists, by the ESSC Judges Sub Committee will be by secret ballot.
